Setting: AKG C2000B into MIC PRE out pre into COMPRESSOR/LIMITER out limiter into CH1 in mixer

This set up has been the same for mostly ALL my recording incuding mine, then along comes this MC that I liked to ryhme over a track I did, and WHOOOOOOOOAH, it seemed like everything he said clipped in the red.

I adjusted the compressor, lowered the gain, told him to step back , many different things, and it seemed he continued to get in the red and clip. I sing loud, but I have CONTROL over my (LOUDEST move back) (LOUD/WHISPER 4inch away close) ranges

Any advice would be appreciated,

final note: I got a good take, I think, (I'll have to listen back tonight) but overall for him to do 2 ch. seemed FOOORREVVERRR

(thought) maybe I had something low and just didnt know it

hmmm...try lowering the gain and changing the pad on the mic, and setting the limiter at different places.

We have a winner! Give that man a dynamic. Really, give him a dark one, like an AKG, and BTW, were you using the pad on the C2000B? Frankly, I use that mike, but not mostly for vocals, and for high SPL's like your buddy, you might really need the pad-Richie

DO WHAT I DO

Bring the music down a notch, and make his headphones as loud as you can.
That usually works for me!

Was I using the PAD ?

Was I using the PAD ? (( heh heh that sounded funny)) anyway

Richard Monroe - I dont understand, what do you mean by that
isnt the C2000B a dynamic mic - and I had a popper stopper -- explain please

JUSTTIGHT - I might take your idea in consideration cause it seemed doable at the time , I just didnt do it. It's weird though cause I record

THECONGO -- change the pad ((that must mean change that little tiny switch)) but I did set the limiter in different places

Thanks fellas, I called the guy to come back and do it over so I have a little time -- like till FRIDAY to figure it out -------

This is why I like working with singer --- they know how to control their layrinex
