recording 2 tracks at once

I'm still pretty new to this, so sorry if this is a dumb question. But, how can I record guitar and keyboard simultaneously on separate tracks with CE Pro? My setup is: guitar > line 1 on Behringer 802 mixer, keyboard > line 2 on mixer, then out of mixer into Audiophile 24/96. Any help would be great, thanks.

If they are both being recorded mono, you could put them into a mixer and pan their channels 100% left and right so they would be recorded on seperate tracks. Just cut and paste to a new channel once they're in the program...

If you have the hardware to record more than one channel at once, you're one step ahead of me and I can't help ya.

They're both mono. I tried moving the cable to the R input on channel 2 for the keyboard while the guitar is set to L input on channel 1. I can now record them each on their own track. The problem now is, the keybaord track is also recording the guitar instead of JUST the keyboard. In CE Pro, I have track 1 set to record the L channel and track 2 set to record the R channel.

Why can't you seperate one instrument to L and one to R? When recorded onto the computer, you should be able to make this one track into two.

Run the mono outputs of both instruments into a stereo-Y cable that inputs into the stereo input on the back of your computer.

Okay, by panning one channel left and the other right on the mixer, I'm able to record into separate tracks. But, what if I had more instruments? Would I need additional sound cards? Like supposing I wanted to record a band using, say 4 mics. Is the sound card only able to record 1 track (1 left, 1 right,) at a time?

You can purchase hardware for multi-track recording with a computer. I don't think there's any way to do it without purchasing this hardware. Pro-tools has some options, but others might be able to help you out with what else is available. I don't know much about it.
