In the audio software, are you recording the left mono channel?

Did it come with a manual or maybe the website contains the manual?

From what I have read about it, the gain knob is the top little button about the "icicle" If that is lit up then phantom power is on. Try turning that and see what happens.

Thanks for some positive comments finally , well yes its being recored to the left mono channel , it didnt have much manual except saying that its a plug and play device.

Yes the the knob has been turned on and everything.

Can anyone suggest me a free software that i can try recording with

It could be a computer issue, windows issue.

I have found that if you 1st plug into a particular USB port the first time then plug into a different port the computer, sound device may not see it the same. I know it should but I have had issues with midi, audio and wireless internet sticks at various times.

Is the windows sound mixer or whatever software mixer you are using set up correctly and the level is turned up?

Is there a software conflict, windows / whatever going on? Turned up in software turned down in windows kind of problem. What software are you recording too?

Did you check what I suggested earlier? I still think it's a software issue. You still have not told us what software you are using??

Alan.

Ok as of now these are some software's i that i tried with , sonar 8 , Audacity , Windows Recorder ( from accessories ) , i tried speaking into the mic in the Recording setting in Windows and it shows that its low too. I tried this in 2 different pcs.

I noticed you never defined "too low". What's it registering at when you talk or sing into the mic? Remember, this is digital you're working with. You don't need, and you shouldn't be, trying to peak anywhere near "0".

You should take a listen to the .wma he posted. It's definitely not just a level problem.

gafadi, do you have any other mics you can try with the icicle?

Not at the moment, i tried it with my friends pc and the same results. I called the manager of Guitar center from where i purchased these items, he told me come in tomorrow and hell help me out. ( Thank god i started using local stores than ordering online )

I believe its might be defect of the mic or the icicle , ill go down there tomorrow. I guess hell try the mic with a interface and that might rule out the mic is not guilty , i suspect the icicle has something to do with this.

Thank for everyone who helped. Ill keep this thread posted on what happened.

Till then enjoy some music

Studio quality for $39.95 - who'd a thunk it!:D

See you in a couple of weeks when you're back with your next thread "My vocals sound like ass, how do I fix them?"

Don't forget to list your equipment...

Ah, gafadi, you're back...

Good to hear from you again.

I think I said it would be two weeks before you reposted with a "my vocals sound like ass" question if you bought that Icicle thing. How was I on the timing?
Well actually, you were a week out so you can't be that much of a mystic ! :D
Seriously though, frighteningly accurate.

The good thing is that when you sort whatever the issue is that there'll be a reference for other Icicle purchasers down the track...

Gafadi - when you work it out, please post what the problem was so that the regular newbie helpers can refer to your solution in the future.

Good luck. Seriously. It's all part of the fun... :D
Armistice, in both episodes where you've run into Gafadi, I can see you've been trying to be helpful. Gafadi doesn't get your humour yet. But I must admit, sometimes, I've been about to type some reply that I think is quite funny but then I think of the Newbie on the other end that's beside themselves with frustration so my witty repartee is lost to history.........
But once the newbies gain some confidence they'll be swinging in there with the rest !

I think you got some issues :spank: i am not even recording anything yet , i am stuck at setting it up properly. I am pretty sure i am doing something wrong , you keep coming back to my thread ? dont you got anything better to do then picking on newbies ? go make a track or something. I hope you are not one of those no life fat computer guy who spends his life in computer chair.

If you are such pro , go to the pro threads i am pretty sure there are people who need your help , suggestions and stuff over there. Newbie section are for people who are not ignorant and are ready to help out people who are not familiar with these stuff.

If you dont have a solution for me , dont come to my thread to "make your point". I am still trying to figure out if i can do this
Gafadi, sometimes people are helping out, even when they're being sarcastic. It's trying to bring some lightheartedness into the situation, maybe to get some to remember that this is not a life and death scenario. True, some get just plain nasty, but that's not always the case.

Sheesh, maybe you are the messiah ?!?!! :p

So yea, thanks for people who tried to help and also thanks for people who were such a "D!ck" and just insulted newbie and in their defence said we are trying to help .

The equipment was broken ( icicle ) , i got a new one and works perfectly. My audio is loud enough now.

Take it easy, bud. Honestly, nobody here is out to get you. 99.8 percent of the time, people (whether their comments be sarcastic or not) are actually here to help you out.

Nobody was insulting you. You've admitted that you're a "big n00b" and that's FAR better than coming out and claiming you know it all, so props to you.

Just soak in as much knowledge from others as you can. It's up to you how much you want to learn from everyone here.

Good luck.
