Thanks to mncoletti I finally got my ADAT back from the shop. Thanks man!

I'm only using an 8-track setup for now. I'm looking for some advice from ADAT users on ways to interface with a PC.

Should I use my mixer for Stereo assignment and effects editing of tracks and 'master' to stereo input of a soundcard? Or pull in all 8 tracks and do the 'mastering' on the PC?

I know this is probably a stupid question, but I want to get an idea of how ADAT users are doing this.

since adding effects on the pc can be very taxing to the system it may be wise to incorporate all the effects you are sure you want to use before downloading into the pc. Just my 2 cents. Just remember once you record it with effects you cant get rid of them so make sure you are using what you need.

I can't tell you what to do. I can only tell you what I do.

I have 2 ADATs that I use for mobile recording. I plug them both into a MOTU 2408 and dump all the raw data onto my hard disk and use my DAW software to mix it and master it.

The simple fact is, if you mess with the sound before you put it on the hard disk, there is no going back without returning to the tape and losing everything you did.
