Solved Recommend Monitors + Preamp

Hey guys,

Was wondering if anyone can recommend me a good set of reference monitors/speakers and a preamp to go with it. I use a Tascam Portastudio 424 mkIII with Shure SM57 microphone for recording electric bass and male vocals demo tapes for my project. Price range around $150 for the preamp and $250 for the monitors. I'm after quality as well. Thanks!
 
I think you can get the KRK Rokit RP5's for about $150/ea new. I have 8" ones and I really like them. You can probably find them within your price range on ebay/craigslist.

It says it's 110/230v switchable, so it should do. You may need to change the plug or get a socket adaptor. It shouldn't need a step-down transformer. However, there is a small red switch on the back to set the mains voltage, which will have been set to 110v. Make absolutely sure that you check and set it to 230 before use, or it will be destroyed.
