With the holiday season here, I'm looking for a midi controller to replace the $100 yamaha piano that I'm currently using. I'm looking for at least 49 keys that has enough features that I can control programs like reason using the controller, and a good non-cheap action feel. Semi-Weighted Keys or Weighted. My limit is around $300 though I might be able to go $400. Also, I'm looking for a keyboard that doesn't have drum trigger pads as I already own a Korg Padkontrol.

CME UF-5. I have two (one for church, one for studio), they're wonderful. Only missing memory. Semi-weighted keys, similar to a Kurz SP-88. Forget how much I paid, maybe $250?

A second vote for the CME series.

A studio I work at regularly has one and I look forward to going there in part because I get the pleasure of using a CME.

Got one on my Christmas list...

Im also looking for a midi controller. I am new to beat prodcing, All I own is a Alto mixer which is pretty nice & a mxl desktop condenser with a pair of k-44 stereo heahphones & nady pop filter lol.

I'd check the new M-Audio Axiom controllers. Slightly more expensive than the CME ones, but still within your budget. IMHO, the semi weighted keys feel much, much better than the CME ones. The Axiom's keys are more like light piano keys, while the CME ones are more like none-weighted with some extra tention on them. It's all a matter of preference though. If I were you I'd find out if I could feel both of them before you decide.

Build quality wise, the CME has an aluminum body while the Axiom is plastic (I think), but they are both very solid controllers (much more so than the edirol and cheaper m-audio controllers). Big plus (to me) is that the Axiom has trigger pads, and rotary encoders, which the CME does not have (well, it has 1 rotary knob).
