The Benchmark unit in that price range is the D to A model, the DAC-1. Their A to D unit is more expensive. I have the DAC-1 by the way and it sounds very very good.
If there is a Lavry AD in that approximately $1,200 price range, I personally would have it at the top of my list.
The 2192 is considerably more expensive than that. And I think that even used they go for a lot more than $1,200.
I would advise you to stay away from a used Waves L2, just in case you were considering it. I don't think the conversion is up to most of the other converters being discussed here. I owned two L2's at different times, and both times I had to swap out the units multiple times to get one that worked right--and I'm talking buying new from a dealer, not used. Once I got one that was solid, it worked great. they are just a little fragile though in my experience.
