Recomendations: Tascam 2488

If you will follow the link to my tunes (in my signature block), everything you will hear has been recorded on a 2488 from start to finish, with no outboard signal processing whatsoever, aside from what resides in the originating gear (Fantom X8, guitar pedalboard, etc.).
 
Hi All, As I have "cowtowntommyboy's music playing thru my headsets I must say I am very impressed w/ all your musical contributions. I've again broken the rules--been sitting here reading the tascam forums since 11--it's now 2:10AM. I've re-reread all the ntes HERE. Boy that guy(dontaylor) can sure rattle on. He reads like he's an Obcessive/compulsive like myself. Poor bastard, he needs a new hobby or at least a new multitracker.
Anyway, I sincerely appreciate all your comments. I still am going thru my "stuff" inmy studio and guess what...I put a "neo" on lay-away. My wife doesn't know it yet. Shoooosh. Hey, I'm really enjoying "Paint It Black" by cowtowntommyboy--you gotta hear this folks--great lead guy !! lead vocal reminds me of how we'd take a lead voal in the 70's & send it thru my Leslie 925 amp for that "roto sound." Me too...I made guitar Center match the lowest price on google...$625...it comes in 4 working days...i have to sell alot of stuff to get a few nice mics now...as I only get gear if I get a check from a client or sell a piece...Im going for a u87...lol.
 
darrin_h2000: That's funny--I had G.C. also match a price__$634 so you should be happy. :) I already purchaced an ADK A-6 condencer mic for $175+S & H. It WAS map priced @ $249. down from $399. Great sound, but I'll need a pop filter. I got it wholesale so if you're interested -just send me a note. http://www.adkmic.com/
I'm gonna hold on to my 688MidiStudio 'till the neo checks out. Good luck w yours. I'll get mine when my studi has room or b-4 the snow flies, whichever come 1st. LOL

I used the pre's on the Neo. Hope this helps. A good amount of the clarity is the mics, the unit itself sounds pretty transparent.

Hi--After re-reading your replay I'm hoping you can define "sounds pretty transparent" to me please.

BTW-I'm planning on joining the Pro AUDIO.com 's video club for a month. I figure for 30bucks I'll be able to learn abut not only the NEO--but take all those recording courses to brushup & LEARN som 'stuff' with.

Ive had a couple of these units a Korg d8...an Akai DPS16...and niether ever had a noise issue...both were super quiet.

My NEO came in today...I have 30 days to try it out...if I dont love it...Ill get the Korg D3200...Im reading the manual now.
