Wtf is a PRS
I know some of you frown on Snippets. But here is my snippet. You can go eff your hats.

Chances are ears may bleed. this is your warning.

So, i have about 5 half done songs. So rather post half done songs id just take an hour throw something together in a few takes using my current template settings and throw it up here for you all to pick at while i am gone. (Due to an illness in the family my planned october Vacation has turned into an August Vacation. Boo Hoo right ? lol.)

As it turns out im kind of stoked at what i threw together so chances are this will turn into something eventually too. I like it.

I totally apologize for that electronic hiss at the beggining, i forgot to disconnct some stuff that i know casues interfernce in my haste to do this thing. And also i just dumped the bass off half way casue i was getting tired.

I'm awesome.

I don't remember if i added any crashes which was stupid. and stopped making the drums intresting just threw a few fills in there for reference of where toms are etc. were sitting.

Half assed version of my other songs creatively speaking.

To the mix.

when i referenced in the car a few things really jumped out at me.

-Kick. Loud. too clicky for my tastes. I changed the beater last minute. (gay decision)
-Hi hat low, and assy
-toms possibly a little too loud.
-Guits are high endy and are lacking in the balls department on my good car stereo but not on the speakers and phones i use.
-and the bass is there. it's just just not doing what it should be doing.... ?

I'm sorta happy with where everything is sitting spatially.

Not happy about how flat it kinda sounds. Like Dry perhaps? Sorta like the low end isn't there. I'm 'monitoring' with some bookshelf speakers, headphones and referencing in my jeep. Hence my anticipation of the arrival of monitors of somesort.

Mix sounds o.k. in my jeep. Thats where the kick hit in me in the face.

Also no effects are added (sorry, anonymous HR.COM user who gave me some plugs that i still haven't got working who also gave me a reference to base my templates off of)

just a bit of compression on the overall mix.

So have at it. pick away ladies and germs and gergs..... Looking forward to this.

This my first ever post of new recent stuff. I have posted stuff in the past of older shit i did but this here stuff is fixable.

So Now's your chance to rip on that Evil Canadian.....

It's not too bad. A few things really jump out at me right off the bat:

1) The drums and guitar aren't in the same space. The kit has this flat, raw, roomy feel to it while the guitars seem very dry and locked in to a tight space. It makes the whole mix seem disjointed. This type of music doesn't work well with lots of reverbs and roominess. Dry up the kit to put it in the same space with the guitars and I bet the mix becomes more cohesive.

2) The drum fills are ridiculous. They're spastic and kill the flow.

3) The left guitar is too fizzy. It lacks clarity. It just sounds like white noise half the time. It's not very pleasing and sounds really amateurish.

4) The bass lacks midrange. You can hear it rumbling around down there in the beginning, but it's not really doing anything for the song.

Other than those things, it aint too bad for a quick snippet.

I thought of adding something more to what Greg said, but ..... I can't. Those are exactly my sentiments.

Yeah, I think you probably are missing the low to mid-low end.

I especially agree with Greg on 3. Left guitar isn't helping much.

thanks guys. i spent two days on my vacation with my producer guy and were going back to the drawing board on alot of things...

Gerg....

when you say to put something in the same space as something else what do you mean?

thanks for the inputs.....

I mean, think of the mix as a real band playing. Everyone is in the same space. The drums shouldn't be twice as reverby as the guitars or vocals. It's not natural. This isn't experiemental ambient music. You don't go to a show or practice in the garage and hear the drums coming from a different room. It's all the same space. Try to replicate that for music like this. If the guitars are dry, the drums should probably be dry-ish too. In-your-face-ness is what makes hard rock and punk mixes work. It's the complete opposite of wimpy spacey trippy shit like Pink Floyd where you have big reverbs and delays popping off all over the place.
