Hi,

this is an issue I have since I got the DM3200. I mainly work with Samplitude Pro X (before that I had V.11), and also with Reason 7 (which I recently upgraded from 6.5). OK, so here's the prob:

As soon, as I start up Reason OR Samplitude, I have full access on the transport bar (the DM3200 bar controlling the DAW Transport bar) and the mixer, i.e. I can use the DM 3200 faders to control those of the SAM mixer. Usually after pressing stop for the first time, Samplitude "looses" the DM3200. I can then press play or manipulate any fader without being effective on the DAW. This is also true for Reason.

The only "solution" I got so far: going wild on the DM3200 controlls (repetedly pressing rew, ffwd stop and play), UNTIL I gain control again (usually after a few seconds of fast and repetetive pressing of the buttons on the DM). From then on I can use the program with the DM without further problems.

I don't think it's a matter of setting the mixer up in the DAWs, because the exact same behaviour occurs in two independent programs: Reason and Samplitude.
I also went in touch with Tascam, but - of course - they point out the problem to be an issue of the programs^^

So, I'm asking you: does anyone experience the same problems as described above?
By the way: since there is no other possibility of hooking the dm3200 up with either reason or samplitude, I chose 2x the mackie-preset (as suggested by Tascam).

For all intel on the matter - thank you very much!

kind regards

What OS are you using, and are you at 32 or 64-bit with your OS?
I ask that first because I am having similar issues with my DM3200 as well.
I don't think I will be answering anything. If anything I will be confirming an issue.
I am on Win 7 Pro 64-bit. I moved from Nuendo to Sonar X2.
I also did the trial of Samplitude Pro X. I have/had the same crazy "no transport control" when I first boot up the program with Sonar and Samplitude.
As you state, I have to "finger shuffle" the transport buttons for a brief period to get any control.
The quickest way I have found to gain control is to press the play button on the screen with the mouse, let it run for 3-4 seconds and push Stop on the 3200.
For some reason that "connected" and gave me transport control. And, I will have complete control until I shut down Sonar or Samplitude.
When I restart either program for another session. I have to do the same routine again. I don't recall ever having to do this with Nuendo.
Also, Sonar and Samp are both the 64-bit versions. I don't know if this is confirming a bug issue for us or what really.
However, you are not alone with this issue.

Anyone else with some input?

Hi MrZeero,

and thanks for your reply!

I am indeed using Win 7 64 bit (16GB RAM, Quadcore Q 2,8 GHz). Due to the fact, I bought the Dm3200 after my new Music-computer, I have no comparison on other OS / Versions of SAM or Reason.

I can totally confirm what you described:

As you state, I have to "finger shuffle" the transport buttons for a brief period to get any control [...]
For some reason that "connected" and gave me transport control. And, I will have complete control until I shut down Sonar or Samplitude.
When I restart either program for another session. I have to do the same routine again. I don't recall ever having to do this with Nuendo.

So here's a quick list of programs that definitively seem to have the same kind of problem:

- Reason 6.5 and 7
- Samplitude X Pro
- Sonar

Thank you! For the fact that I am not alone with this issue I will contact the Tascam support again - more than one program having trouble with the DM 3200 seems to me to be a problem of the Tascam drivers, at least an issue of the mixer itself.

Anyone who experiences the same issue, please report here; I will also link this thread to tascam-support.

best regards

Can anyone using the Tascam Dm3200/4800 with Samplitude help me! I had my Tascam dm4800 and Samplitude working together perfect. But just the other day, I lost all connection when in Remote mode. I attempted to reset all my setting, but I'm missing something. Can some one send me their configuration for Samplitude and the Tascam dm4800. Thanks in advance.
