aight, so i finally started using Reason again and I'm frustrated just like the last time I opened it up. But anyways, I have a pretty basic question I think. After I bounce a drum beat down to the track how do I make it so it only plays whats on the track. Every time I press play it will play everything from the drum sampler, nn19 sampler etc... How am I suppose to construct a piece if its going to play the same thing over top of what I am trying to track

hi freind

I assume you are RE-wiring it to some third party...?

Cubase, Pro tools, Logic, Reaper?

anyhow look to top there of the rack and do this:

1. click window select the Sequencer window, go to your Sequencer page now you see all your friendly little tracks in the sequencer ...don't get into a conversation with them! just look at the section immediately to the right of each track you will see a solo button represented by a (you guessed it) S. it’s Green I think.

when that is engaged the track is solo.

if you are talking about Redrum you can solo each instance at the rack on the Drum machine it's self, just look for the S at the top of each Channel track in the drum machine.

Cool?

glad to help.

Here's the real answer.

Since it's easy to create a new drum machine, leave the one that's being triggered idling on an empty pattern. That will let the events in the track fire the appropriate sounds but won't add anything further.

If you want to do more drum work create another Redrum.

There is a way to automate the patterns in a Redrum. When you bring up the editing side of the sequencer screen you will see abbreviations for the Redrum sounds, then below that a pink velocity screen and below that a yellow pattern sequencer. Use this by setting the quantize value to 'bar', then pick up the pencil tool and draw in your pattern numbers. It's easier to change than reworking a track.
