Hi all, I'e just created a drum track in Reason and am putting a Bassline on top of it using a Cubase midi channel, but when I play the b-line notes, it also plays the drums assigned to those keys in Reason. I've got 'play in background' in reason un-ticked and have reason minimised, but it doesn't matter which channel I choose in Cubase, the keys always plays a drum note as well as the b-line note. Is there any way to just play Cubase MIDI files and not reason when I'm in cubase?

Not sure if it matters, but I'm using a new M-Audio Axiom 61 Keyboard contoller too.

Thanks!

It sounds like the midi track you are playing in Cubase has the drum machine as it's output. Make sure the unit you're using to play your bassline is selected on the output of the midi track.

If this doesn't work, use the Tab key to flip to the rear panel of the rack in Reason. Then check your redrum and the synth are going through separate channels at the outputs at the top of the hardware interface. Then open up Devices > Reason and check the relevant tracks are turned on in Cubase.

Hope this helps.

Hi

I hope I read this correctly. The same thing has happened to me a couple of times; and made some quite 'interesting surprises, but it's nothing to worry about. If you go into reason and click the midi symbol (a five-pin circular socket icon) to the left hand side of the drum machine track you are using in Reason, it should no longer play any midi to that or any other track in Reason and you are now free to send your midi to Cubase unaffected

Good Luck
