REAMP not needed here right (MOTU 896)?

i'm to reviece a 'motu 896' in the next couple of days.
and seeing it has switchable outputs for +4/fixed/-10 i won't need a reamping device to actually reamp my signal(s) right?
i could just send it out a channel set to +4, and using a jack, right?

this would solve a lot of my problems, and be a nice side benefit of the motu.

am i right here?

and also, what other REAMPing devices are out there?`

WEll, even at -10, that's still a line level signal, and what you're looking for is a high impedance instrument level signal to run back into the amp. I believe you can use any passive DI box backwards to reamp stuff, as it's basically just a transformer and will work either way (whereas actives wont cuz you cant just reverse the signal flow in a transistor or op amp or tube based circuit)

Po'man's REAMP/DI device

thinking of building a few of these.
might as well put it together inside my stagebox, for easy access of DI and REAMPing.

any ideas as to how i can add an "amp out" on it (so the ie. bassplayer can use it as a normal DI box = bass in - splits to (transformer and XLR output) and (jack out going to his bass amp)?

If it's going to remain passive, you'll lose volume by splitting it into two signals, butmaybe that's not a big problem in this case. Notexactly sure the best way to go about that, maybe you can just double up the outputs, but you might run into problems withchanging the load impedance by doing such.

It could be made active, maybe some sorta op amp at unity gain or somethinglike that as a buffer.... only stuff I've build before I used an op amp and isolated it with capacitors, but the stuff I made wasa pretty crappycircuit, without a lotof bandwidth and such. I justkinda know what I'm doing enough to fiddle, but not enough to make itgoodenough.

Askme againin a couple of years, I'm currently studying electricalengineering.

Or maybe somebody else around here can help.... I'll check back when I get home, look at a couplesites I have bookmarked that might have some useful information.

Man, this keyboard sucks where I'm at right now. The spacebar doesn'twork fast enough to keep up with my typing, so forgive my typographical errors.
