hello-
I have a Schecter 006 Elite and I'm trying to lower the action. I played a friend's Strat the other day and fell in love with it, so I'm trying to get a similar action on my Schecter while I'm saving for a strat

anyway, as it is, the bridge is screwed down to its lowest point, and the strings are still a mile off the fret board.

I see that there are two rings on the screws, under the bridge that affect its height. One has threads and one looks like a fancy washer.

I want to know if I remove the washer to buy me another 1-2 millimeters, am I headed for trouble?

please see my very crude drawing attached below, with a larger side view at the bottom right of the picture. The "washer" in question I have colored black

I know this sounds kinda paranoid but I'd like to get it right, or leave it alone

thanks alot

That's not a washer, it is the top of the ferule which the post gets screwed into. There is no way to remove it.

I would recommend you take your guitar to a good tech, because if the bridge is all the way down, then your strings should be resting on the frets. It sounds to me like there is another problem with the geometry of the instrument, and judging from your question, you do not have the experience to deal with it yourself. Take it to a pro.
