Ready for vox?

I just wanted to get some opinions on this tune before I turn it over to the singer. Are the sound effects too much? Other comments?
I realize my influences are a bit glaring here, but...whatcha gonna do?

That filter sweep effect that comes in about 0:23 and reappears in other parts of the songs doesn't sound right to me. Sounds very out of place.
The rest sounds good; I generally try to avoid doing too much mixing until all the tracks are in place personally. Bring it all together so you can mix in context, rather than mixing the track then overdubbing vocals.
Overall sounds like a good mix; can't tell about the finer points with my cheap speakers here but from a basic balance standpoint I think you're in the right ballpark.

Thanks for the opinion on the sweep thing, I really wasn't sure, so I left it in...I think I'll get rid of it, maybe find something more fitting or drop it.

Since you took the time to listen to mine, I returned the act and checked out your site. I was able to listen to your "latest and greatest" using Goldwave-it supports the .ogg format.
Very cool stuff...I 'bout laughed my ass off! Excellent recording also, pretty amazing. Just thought I'd let you know that I got a kick out of it and will check out more when I have more time. Thanks!
