what does everyone think of the Electro-Voice RE1000? i was just searching for mics and came accross this in-expensive LDC and wondered what everyone thought of it? for vocals?
I've used a couple of them, really liked them on Cello. On Vocals they are quite decent, but not very exciting. Of course it really depends on the voice, and it could be that for your voice it's the perfect mic, which you can only know by trying it out. But I remember likening it to the AKG 414, which is a great mic, but not my first choice for vocals.
I've heard mixed reviews on it. Electrovoice make some really good/outstanding dynamic mics, and that's pretty much what they're known for. The RE-1000 was supposedly kind of a letdown.
I really love my RE1000 and like its subtlety on my voice. I think it is very underrated. BTW, it is actually a mid sized diaphram rather than large. I picked mine up for a very good price.
