Rap Vocal Mic

My old microphone broke today, it was a Shure PG58 and was actually meant for live performances over studio recording.
We only bought it cause it was on sale for like 30 bucks.
Anyways, i need something thats gonna block the pops from my B's and P's, as well as not crack if i bust some ODB sing-songy crazy rap stuff, ya know
As well as just plain sounding clear.

I have 550 bucks to spend, so post suggestions pretty pleasey.
Also, i dont have one of those phantom pre amp power things, so keep that in mind, nor do i have a stand, so i guess link me up with those too.

You need some source of phantom power from a pre, mixer or interface. You should maybe save up a bit more and buy both. Running a decent mic thru a piece of shit source will make it sound like shit.

Sure SM7b (NOT the same as an SM57) or an EV RE-20...by a mile. No phantom power required for either.

I am not a hater of the KSM27...I have one and use it for acoustic guitars mostly, but it's quite honestly the *last* mic I would go to for a rap vocal. The SM7b would kill it every time.

CAD M179 and ART Pro Channel. Shoud be a little over 400 bucks with plenty of change for a stand and pop screen.

M179 is excellent for the money on rap vocals. frontendaudio.com has audio examples.
ART Pro Channel has tube preamp and compressor. Good start for better vocals.
