I have been to so many fucking music stores. Sam Ash, Guitar Center, Drummer's World, Norm's Music. And not one single fucking Sonor Force 3005. Its hard to find Mapex Pro M's too. Its like... all the drum sets that sound cool, no one has in stock. All they have is Pearl, Tama, and the occassional Ludwig and Yamaha. But no one has any fucking Sonors. Shit, I can find a DW in any one of these music stores, but I cant find a fucking Force 3005. I really don't wanna buy a drum set without trying it out first. I won't do that... but so far, the only drum sets I like are these freakishly expensive maple drum sets that I would take me years to save up for (the Tama Superstar was also OK, but I still say the maple drum sets were kick ass). And no one has the maple drum sets that are moderately priced. Does anyone know any store in NYC that sells Sonor Force 3005 and Mapex Pro M drum sets? How am I supposed to buy a drum set if I'm not even sure if its good? I don't wanna spend $1,300 on drum set, and then the day I get it find out its a piece of crap.

Also, does anyone know where I can get a Paiste Dark Energy 22" Ride Mark 1 for under $300? I tried it out at the store, it was really nice, but really expensive.

ANother thing to bitch about. EVen if I do find a store thats near me that sells Sonor Force 3005, all these stores pile their drums up on each other. So no matter what, most of the drums sound like crap. Its hard to get a good sound out of them. I've heard people say "just test out the snare" but I dont want a new snare... I love my current snare, I just need new toms and a bass drum.

Dude its all the same with guitars/equiptment. There's no Dean guitars, no real nice ibanez guitars, everything there is either crap, or gibson les pauls. It's very aggrivating when i wanna try a new wah pedal, or some new gear i heard about. They never stock it... (ex. the silver machine wah). Toodles!

I know it's a stretch, since you want to see and play the set your buying but at least visit www.forksdrumcloset.com. They are an independent store in Nashville that is one of, if not the top drum store in the country. I drive 2 hrs to get there because I can get stuff @ 50% off what it goes for locally and their selection is unbelieveable. They have a huge variety and their service and knowledge is second to none and If you call and talk to Gary I'm pyretty sure he would let you return the drums if you were unhappy. I've never had a problem returning stuff, and I do live out of Nashville, in the times I've dealt with them. In fact I've been amazed at some things, my son had a cymbal that he'd had for 2 years and no receipt that was cracked and they gave us a brand new one. They deal with studio and traveling pros all day long every day and are in business to keep customers happy and they know their stuff because of the huge music industry in Nashville. Also if your wanting a good deal on a maple set have you seen the Pacific kits? You can get maple shells with hardware, good heavy duty hardware not cheap crap, for under $900.00. This is the best kit for the money IMHO. Hope this helps. :)

Grave,

I don't know about the city - but a 2 hour drive from you is Caruso music in New London CT - and they stock the Mapex Mars Pro........

I own the Mars series - and love it - but for what it's worth - I own the older - thru lug - and would not replace it with today's split lug drums. They still sound great - but I prefer thru lugs for proper tensioning of the heads without putting tension on the sides of the drum itself.

I'll call to ask if they have Sonor Force 3005 drums and what is their pricing. But to be honest, I've tried pacific, and I really wasn't impressed at all.
I actually was starting to think that it would be the same for the Mapex Pro M's and the Force 3005's. But I tried a mini Mapex Pro M, and even though it wuz way too small, it sounded really good. But The toms of the Pro M are really expensive, so I wanna check out the SOnor Force 3005 (note: 3005 is not 3003. 3003 has basswood/maple shells, while 3005 is all maple). According the the Dale's drum shop website, they dont stock force 3005, but I'll call to ask. My sister goes to college in PA, so I could probably get there. As for the other music store in CT... what is the website?

If you flash your cash or Visa card they'll let you set up a kit in their test room. You shouldn't listen to a kit in a room full of resonant things. ;)
