This would be my first and pretty much only source of sound... What would be your sugguestion and options of how to get it as cheap as possible??? And yes I definitely want it rackmount... Brett

Why people make stupid recommendations without knowing the other person's needs is beyond me...

Brett,

What kind of sounds are you looking for? Do you want to create your own?

Well brzilian,
Being that this would be his only source of sounds, and knowing that the Kurzweil k2000r is also a rack unit (which he wanted) with nice sounds, and it's under 700 bucks, I figured I would suggest it. I recently picked one up after a friend got the k2000 keyboard version which I really liked.
Why some people are so very obnoxious, well that is definitely beyond me, but the world is filled with them, and now you are just one other one to add to my list!

Roland XV-5050, which you could actually buy new on your budget. I believe the XV-3080's are selling for under $700 as well, but that would have to be used since they are discontinued. These synths would allow you to add extra SRX expansion boards.

Also take a look at the Roland 1080 and 2080. The SR-JV expansion boards are still plentiful and cheap, so you can customize these synths with extra sounds that you want.
