I'm thinking of building my own computer for my studio. I would prefer it to be rack-mountable. Would one of these be ok? I've heard that you need a special motherboard, is this true? If so, in what way, and what would you recomend? I will be wanting to have an AMD X2 processor.

Is your control room seperate from your tracking room?
If not, why would you want to introduce all of that noise into the room? Rack mounts are typically much louder than tower or desktop systems.

You will need to swap out the fans for quiet fans. Once you do, I find they are generally quieter than other boxes since the steel is heavier gauge than the usual boxes.

They say max dimension is 9.6", so check the motherboard spec since some are longer than that. You're going to have that restriction in a short case.

Yeah, control room is separate from tracking rooms. Do you know of any motherboard which will fit in that space, which is compatable with an AMD 64 X2 processor? As it will save me a lot of searching. Doesn't matter if you don't. :D

I've had one very similar to that for the last several years...I like it because it sits at arms level in my rack , right next to my desk....the case itself if pretty quiet, but my power supply and cpu fans and very noisy...I don't even use any case fans, never have....
