right now my only rack unit is the lexicon mx200 ....

my chain is mic > preamp > lexicon > delta 44 > cubase or cool edit

i was wondreing if there was a way to record it first..then send the sound to the lexicon, so i can tweak it beter (i record myself) that would make things alot easyer..plus im planning to get more rack units like compressor etc...and it would be nice to send it to the unit after i recorded it dry...

thanks

Doesn't the Delta have a send or output? You would record it and then send it out the output and into the rack and then back in the input.

Yup....that's the way I do it. Clean to the PC then a send out to the outboards if/when I us 'em then back to the Delta.

ok so lemme get this straight..i send mic to preamp..then to the in on the soundcard that sends it to my comp..but then how do i send it to the rack a have a wire running from the out of the soundcard into the rack? then how does the sound come back to the comp..and do the monitors?

Well, in this case you won't be able to use the effects right away. You would track the music, then afterwards you would send it to the rack for effects/compression etc.

Make sense?

I don't know the Delta so I cna't say if it has multiple outs and ins or not, but assuming its one stereo each way, that would be how it would work.

right..but how would i sent it to the rack? the delta has 4 ins and 4 outs...after i track it..how do i send it to the rack?

yep yep. i did this just now with my Delta 66 and TC M300.

set it up like everyone else has said, with outs 3+4 going to the lexicon, and then back in to the delta.

then in the delta control panel, you want to find the "monitor mix" button - i think its in the second panel. hit that. then you can hear the effect you're adding through the lexicon alongside everything else you've recorded. it also means you can hear the changes you're making to the effect as you're making them.

then i just rerecord the track, often mixing the effected track with the original one.

hope that helps.

Andy.

analog to digital to analog to digital to finally come out of a speaker as analog again .... whew, wears me out just thinking about all the work. but not really a problem since it useing the same converters each time i guess

Would inserts be slightly more beneficial since no analog summing is taking place?

Better yet is it possible to track drums into inputs 3-8 on the soundcard, run them out of 2 outputs in the soundcard and back into inputs 1-2 , while applying effects in channel 1-2's inserts and hearing it all in realtime?
