quick recording help

hello , i just got a new mixer and i was wondering what cord i'll need to connect it to my computer. i tried using a cord with red and white prongs on one side, and a 1/8 on the other side through the tape out into my sound card, but it seems loose in the tape out jacks. but i dont know, this may be normal i dont know how snug they are suppose to fit. any pictures of the cord i'll need would be a bonus and nice as well. thanks.

I assume you're using some sort of sound blaster card and are trying to connect the mixer outputs to one of the 1/8" jacks on the sound blaster?

The 1/8" jack on your sound card may be a line in jack or a micropone jack, make sure you're using the line in jack. I believe this is a mono input though so you'll only be able to connect to one of the tape outs on your mixer. Research your card's documentation to find out if it's a mono input.

The cable you're using sounds like it's designed to take two 1/8" mono sources and adapt them to a stereo 1/8" jack. I think you want a cable with an RCA connection on one end (mixer) and 1/8" mono connection on the other end (sound card).

i know i noticed that, sorry. i was just looking for the quickest help possible so i can run out and get the cord i need, and i wasnt sure where to post this.

anyways, yes im using a 1/8 input on my soundcard, the line in. the prongs seem to fit into the tape out of my mixer, but they're not secure..the slightest pull could take them right out. is this normal? or do i most likely have the wrong cord.

Sounds like you've got the wrong connectors at your mixer. Most likely you need RCA plugs on that end. Do you know what an RCA connector looks like?

no thats why i asked for pictures, but i dont think i need them. i pushed harder on the cords and they fit now...i just needed to kind of push them hard and i was affraid to because i didnt want to damage my new mixer
