Sigh. I return from work to a few comments.
Ok let's start at the top.
I think this will aid anyone who’s thinking that reading two posts and making a homophobic comment will make them cool.
It doesn’t.
IF YOU'RE GOING TO COMMENT ON ANY OF THIS ARGUMENT, TRY READING IT FROM THE START.
I’ve already had UB40 stating I emailed and harassed Jake. Wrong. I simply replied.
I've already stated, that this was a quick 30 minute recording set and I'd done what I'd call the minimum of mixing, and I placed it here because I wanted to mix it a little better so it could be kept in my "songs we don't play" section.
I've already explained the bass sounds wank because I had difficulty playing a fretless bass, I've furthered that by pointing out that the only bass in my house is fretless and not mine.
The first post I made stated that my vocal was off, but as it wasn't something I planned on using for anything other than personal record it didn't matter too much. I posted it on here, so I could get some ideas on how to make a quick, rough recording sound better.
This argument started not because of the fact that someone critiqued my song, but HOW they did it. They made what are, in my opinion, unconstructive comments followed by personal, pointless comments/opinions. I retaliated and have continued to do so and will continue to do so. If you're naive or stupid enough to think I'm sitting here listening to my song masturbating about how perfect it is, or that I posted it on here expecting rapturous applause and admiration you are wrong. I've posted good and bad songs on here, and have received good and bad comments. I've posted finished works, and unfinished works.
I finished the song Kids:

After taking advice from users of this forum. Sometimes I agree, sometimes I don't, either way any advice or comment makes me listen to my song with fresh ears.
The post from Emser is a perfect example:
"Hi there,
I know how it feels to get your dalings killed.
I`m`gonna ignore what this thread lead to and focus on the song.
I can see (i think) what you were aiming for here.
It is extremely hard to get separation on guitarrs when you whant that muddy Lanois sound, you need to work on the frq, pan and room placement (reverb)
I dont think the fuzzzzzy guitarrs work in a song like this, try something more tubedistortionish. Since you dont have any drums i think you need a more steady bass to move the song forward.
Maby a shaker to keep the beat.Ok the singing isnt your best for sure, i know you can do better. On the lead vokal cut everything below 100hz on the backup even more and keep them quieter than the lead they are only for backup not to take control.
Thats it. Rekommend a thick skin in the future ;-)
/emser"
He said what needed to be said, a lot of things I agree with, and one or two I don't (there will be no bastard shaker!!).
Yet he managed it in a considerate, courteous, non-arrogant way. How about that?
Compare that to:
"If you are doing this shit "just for me", than please keep it on YOUR hard drive, cause once you post it here, it ain't "just for you" anymore, and godfuckingdamnit, I want something of somewhat quality to entertain me! Nothing worse that some talentless dimwit with a computer!"
Let's be fair, find one post from me before this whole thing which was insulting or discourteous. I hate the school of thought that on the internet manners aren't needed. They are. They're needed as much as grammar and spelling.
For the record once more, I have been a complete prick in most of my responses, but they have all been in retaliation; and it's interesting to see which members "don't like it up them", so to speak.
Another thing that pissed me off was the pack hunting effect I saw come into play. The second one or more people started arguing, I got random, pointless posts from illiterate people jumping on the band wagon, who don't even know what the argument was about:
"hey
could somebody please figure out a way to get this
ASSLAD
dude to lose the gay photo advertisement?
it seems like he is far more worried about image than substance. of course in the music business that may not be a bad thing but so far it looks like little show and no go."
Wow. Homophobia is funny at any age. So is this poster’s grammatical skill.
I'd love to know why he posted that now, especially as I've had this signature for months now, and unless admin states otherwise I have no intention of changing it.
Finally, if you've bothered to read through this, I'd like to make another point, don't be so arrogant to judge my musical ability or indeed mastering ability (to be fair, not my strongest point- hence me being here) on one unimportant, rushed track.
If you disagree with me, fair enough, but I feel that I've stated facts and only gave as much as I was given.
Cheers.
