You know, not all of us are good engineers. I am getting better, but it's because of Jake and everyone else pointing out what is lacking in my mixes (besides the fact that I can't sing...). Sure he's harsh, but so what? It's not like you have to live with him! Take it for what it's worth (a critique from a guy with a great ear, but a foul mouth), and move the fuck on! Christ this is getting old!

Oh, and wasn't "sonusman" banned from here and totally erased from the server? (well, except the fucking article the dumbass admin can't seem to remove from his website even AFTER sonusman specifically requested that they not be hosted on this server anymore..........with Dragon making money, I bet sonusman has a royalty case here! :D)

Well that sonusman guy didn't know his ass from a hole in the ground. That Mofset guy though, he really knows his stuff..... ;) :D

Mosfet? He knows nothing compared to UB802. Have some respect man

noisedude, you are at the wrong place if you are looking for the "goods". I hardly ever come here at all, and probably won't start either. There IS another site I frequent and have some gems written.

I gave this dood some hints, which was more than I normally would with how he has carried on with things.

Where are all these other sites people go to LEARN I keep hearing about?

for frick's sake

hey

could somebody please figure out a way to get this

ASSLAD

dude to lose the gay photo advertisement?

it seems like he is far more worried about image than substance. of course in the music business that may not be a bad thing but so far it looks like little show and no go.

on the other hand i can always block his posts and then i wont have to see his queer bait.

Or you could edit your options so that images or signatures are not displayed.

Ah, that makes sense. I'll start reading there more. Thanks!

I have to agree that the banner should go. I think it proves this boy has a wee tad of a ego problem.

Hehe, yeah, but then you have to unblock him everytime you think he's talking shit.....and there it will be waiting for you; the gayest sig line ever concocted by a queer.

to the dude looken 4 sites:

this one is good and harmony central recording forum is good too.

that one has more "pros" or wannabe pros and this one has more of us lamers.

the sites are good for equipment info and which technical aspects to be concerned with like room acoustics, mic usage, eq, compression and whatever.

if you really want to get good at recording then find people who are already good and hang out with them and watch what they do. everybody has different strategies so if you could learn 3 or 5 pro strategies then you would have a pretty good idea of how its done.

easy right?

if youre on your own then it takes a lot of time and a lot of thought.

im sure theres other sites for recording but the ones ive seen are more pro or not as popular as here and harmony central.

Holy crap I just found out how to switch on pictures! Now that gay bloke is jacking off all over the place!

So this is the first you've seen it. It's a horrible sight to behold.

Sigh. I return from work to a few comments.

Ok let's start at the top.
I think this will aid anyone who’s thinking that reading two posts and making a homophobic comment will make them cool.
It doesn’t.

IF YOU'RE GOING TO COMMENT ON ANY OF THIS ARGUMENT, TRY READING IT FROM THE START.

I’ve already had UB40 stating I emailed and harassed Jake. Wrong. I simply replied.

I've already stated, that this was a quick 30 minute recording set and I'd done what I'd call the minimum of mixing, and I placed it here because I wanted to mix it a little better so it could be kept in my "songs we don't play" section.
I've already explained the bass sounds wank because I had difficulty playing a fretless bass, I've furthered that by pointing out that the only bass in my house is fretless and not mine.
The first post I made stated that my vocal was off, but as it wasn't something I planned on using for anything other than personal record it didn't matter too much. I posted it on here, so I could get some ideas on how to make a quick, rough recording sound better.

This argument started not because of the fact that someone critiqued my song, but HOW they did it. They made what are, in my opinion, unconstructive comments followed by personal, pointless comments/opinions. I retaliated and have continued to do so and will continue to do so. If you're naive or stupid enough to think I'm sitting here listening to my song masturbating about how perfect it is, or that I posted it on here expecting rapturous applause and admiration you are wrong. I've posted good and bad songs on here, and have received good and bad comments. I've posted finished works, and unfinished works.
I finished the song Kids:
http://www.nowhereradio.com/artists/album.php?aid=4372&alid=-1
After taking advice from users of this forum. Sometimes I agree, sometimes I don't, either way any advice or comment makes me listen to my song with fresh ears.

The post from Emser is a perfect example:
"Hi there,
I know how it feels to get your dalings killed.
I`m`gonna ignore what this thread lead to and focus on the song.
I can see (i think) what you were aiming for here.
It is extremely hard to get separation on guitarrs when you whant that muddy Lanois sound, you need to work on the frq, pan and room placement (reverb)
I dont think the fuzzzzzy guitarrs work in a song like this, try something more tubedistortionish. Since you dont have any drums i think you need a more steady bass to move the song forward.
Maby a shaker to keep the beat.Ok the singing isnt your best for sure, i know you can do better. On the lead vokal cut everything below 100hz on the backup even more and keep them quieter than the lead they are only for backup not to take control.

Thats it. Rekommend a thick skin in the future ;-)

/emser"

He said what needed to be said, a lot of things I agree with, and one or two I don't (there will be no bastard shaker!!).

Yet he managed it in a considerate, courteous, non-arrogant way. How about that?

Compare that to:
"If you are doing this shit "just for me", than please keep it on YOUR hard drive, cause once you post it here, it ain't "just for you" anymore, and godfuckingdamnit, I want something of somewhat quality to entertain me! Nothing worse that some talentless dimwit with a computer!"

Let's be fair, find one post from me before this whole thing which was insulting or discourteous. I hate the school of thought that on the internet manners aren't needed. They are. They're needed as much as grammar and spelling.

For the record once more, I have been a complete prick in most of my responses, but they have all been in retaliation; and it's interesting to see which members "don't like it up them", so to speak.

Another thing that pissed me off was the pack hunting effect I saw come into play. The second one or more people started arguing, I got random, pointless posts from illiterate people jumping on the band wagon, who don't even know what the argument was about:

"hey
could somebody please figure out a way to get this
ASSLAD
dude to lose the gay photo advertisement?
it seems like he is far more worried about image than substance. of course in the music business that may not be a bad thing but so far it looks like little show and no go."

Wow. Homophobia is funny at any age. So is this poster’s grammatical skill.
I'd love to know why he posted that now, especially as I've had this signature for months now, and unless admin states otherwise I have no intention of changing it.

Finally, if you've bothered to read through this, I'd like to make another point, don't be so arrogant to judge my musical ability or indeed mastering ability (to be fair, not my strongest point- hence me being here) on one unimportant, rushed track.

If you disagree with me, fair enough, but I feel that I've stated facts and only gave as much as I was given.

Cheers.

I've listen to a couple of the tunes and to be honest, they need re-tracked not mixed. No amount of mixing skills will fix the shoddy performances that appear on all instruments.

Why bother when it's not being used for anything other than a record. I was happy that the performance is good enough for its use. But that doesn't stop me wanting the best possible rough. Re-read the forum. Not once do I say I was aiming for something amazing, or trying hard. I said on the FIRST post that it was a quick little tune but I quite liked it. And I do. Regardless of your opinions on the song.

Just had a listen to what we have here for the first time. It's a harmless enough song, but I would agree that it needs re-tracking. It's good for a beginner and for a first try (and sounds better than some of my own stuff in that regard), but the opportunity is here for you to learn how to start making your songs sound great.

Bite the bullet, chill out, and get learning. I'll meet you on the other side. :)

Lol, I KNOW IT NEEDS RE DOING, but I don't want to, it's not a serious project for me it's a rough for my records so I don't forget it, but I want the best sounding rough I can mastering wise. Listen to the song KIDS on the same site, that was something I put effort into. It's not perfect, but it's pretty good. :)

normally i wouldnt

normally i wouldnt participate in ganging up on someone in one of these forums...

but this dude is so pretensious...

and he needs to know that we consider him to be...

completely ridiculous...

and worthy only of contempt

its bad enough that he is a sniveling little moronic twit...

but he thinks he is brilliant and so we have to try to help him see his errors right???

we are only trying to help. thats what we are here for.

a picture of vacuous young people posing by a mixing desk does not establish bona fides.

the ad looks like gay bait.

the recording is worthless crap.

only a nansy pansy whines about spelling and grammar in a recording forum.

the excuses are all lame and idiotic.

i could go on and on but ive decided to keep my critique consise so i can more easily offer some suggestions for improvement:

dont post worthless recordings

lose the ad banner

quit bitching about spelling

quit making excuses

i feel that following just those few suggestions would lead to great improvements

You seem to have a problem with your font sizes, there, jeapy ma man.
