Ok, I got this new toy (Alesis HD24). I read the manual and this thing should kick butt for what I am after.

Here is my question to you expeienced ones,,,,,

Once I have the ethernet hookup all up and running with my computer at the studio, and I download or upload the tracks (I assume I can download or upload the 24 tracks seperately to remix and work with, at home, on my other computer), what software or program should I buy so I can then open the downloaded mix/song up and start editing and playing around with it?

I currently have Cubase (the basic version) and also Cakewalk Express in the computer at my studio (and at home as well). Will any of these 2 do the trick?? I'd play around, but I am not at the studio till tomorrow night, and thought you could help me out awhile so I can buy whatever program thats compatible and does this for me.

At home, I want to be able to pull up band demo songs from the HD24 at the studio (via internet), and then mess around (edit) them at my home (each fader seperately of course) like I was doing a mixdown with my Mackie 24X8 actually at the Studio).

Can anyone help me out?? Whats the magic program??

Thanks,,,, and Peace

Either Cubase or Cakewalk will work fine. Regarding transfers via internet, I hope you have a fat pipe because that's a LOT of data.

You're correct. I edit (not mix)with Cakewalk9 myself. As far as the remote thing, I suppose you could do a PC Anywhere thing and edit from home.

If set up properly, he wouldn't even need that. I could log into my HD24 from work if I wanted to. But that would be silly :D

So if I got this right, with Cakewalk 9 software, I can come right out of my HD24 and into the computer (via ethernet) and mix from there on my computer?

Thanks

And MsHallarious,,,how DARE you talk about the size of my "pipe". :p  I can download 6 to 7Mps with my internet connection, so it shouldnt take very long. ;)

Sort of. You drag the song from the HD24 to the computer. Once it's all there then you create a new project in your software (Cakewalk or whatever) and drag the individual wavs into their new respective tracks, name them and save it. Then you're off to the races.

Thanks Mike, and everyone else who replied.

So when I pull the wav files (tracks) off the HD24 and into the computer, I will have to do that 1 track (wav) at a time, then after all are downloaded seperately, bring all of them into Cubase 1 at a time into the Cubase mixer?
I thought there was like a "zip" file or format that would or could just bring the whole 24 ch mix all at once. Then I could just open it up in Cubase or Cool Edit and go from there>? Guess not huh?
