I have some questions regtarding Sonar 2

After installing the midiman keystation 61 controller, I get pops while im playing notes on the keyboard. Does anyone now why?

2) I cannot get drum styles to play. I open a drum style, it shows up as a midi track but i get no sound.

3) How do I get a midi track to an audio track?

thanks in advance

could you give us a little more information about your setup?
1. operating system, motherboard chipset type, processor speed, amount of ram
2. sound card
4. does the midimna have the onboard GM sounds?

sorry...

AMD 1800+
256 RAM
40 Gih HD
Delta 44 SC
midiiman usb 61 key keyboard
(no onboard sounds) I use it to control the synths within sonar and big tick clav patch

1) Are you using any DXI's and/or have set your latency to low?

2) What MIDI-device have you routed the MIDI-track to play through? Is it to the synth of the card (if any), MIDI-out or a DXi?

3) If you're using a DXi, you could bounce the track. If you're using the cards synth or an external synth, you need to record the track as audio. Create a audio-track and route the audio from the synth to the track.

Soundblaster example: In Creative Surround Mixer (or Windows Mixer), select the recording source as "Midi Synth". Now you can record in Sonar.

External synth example: You need to connect the synth to the Line In on the PC somehow. In the Creative/Windows Mixer select recording source to be "Line In"

Hope this helps! :)

Well, after installing a new MIDI port, Cakewalk (SONAR) will detect the new port in the Options --> MIDI Devices. In and Out. Can you see it there ? good. Now, you need to remap your MIDI configuration there. Select an input and output port again for sure. In many case, MIDI pops and clicks caused by poor configuration that leads to MIDI looping (echo). This case, the data being sent to both your synth and back to your controller, and the controller sent the data received back to the synth. You'll hear some kind of "doubling note". To avoid this, go Options --> Project, and select all in "Record and echo MIDI channels", "Echo mode" to Auto, and "Local Port" to 0. If your controller has "Local On" feature, then set it off. If I get your question in the right way, then it should solve the problem. ;)

...I guess that because you install a new MIDI port, then Cakewalk reset the port order, and your synth not become the current active port anymore. Re-map it in Options --> MIDI devices and make sure you highlight the ports in a right order.

...I think moskus has a great explanation up there, unless you have any specific difficulties. Come back for more...

Hope it helps ;)
