i finished this recording recently, bridge (it was posted on the mixing clinic)
haveing some problems in the subs, so per a suggestion i decided to be a little lazy about it and go to a finished 24bit 48k version and throw a hi pass on it to see if i could solve it the easy way.
it was slamed to -.3 so i open it in protools, hard pan the l and r tracks and put an eq over the master fader. everything's fine.
when i ran the hi pass, instead of gaining some head room like you'd think i would i start peaking, like 2.5 db. NO GAIN ANYWHARE just a cut.
tried it with a different eq, same result. peaking
what the heck is going on here????
ps. if the eq is in and on it's fine. nothing happens untill i make the cut.
