Hi I am new here. I was wondering if anyone knew of a USB soundcard that is fairly cheap. Basically I need something that will give me a accurarte sound for mixing and mastering files already on my computer. Thanks!

If files are already on your computer, then any USB soundcard will do the job.

How cheap is cheap? Can't get any cheaper than this, but it's only recording and playback in 16 bit. However if it's only to listen to stuff already recorded fine.

If the files are already in your computer, then you must have a built-in soundcard, right? No need for an external USB card at all. You need a DAW (software) todo your editing.

Thank you for all the replies! I guess the reason I asked for a usb soundcard was because I thought there was some sort of converter in them to give me a more correct sound? or is that just when you record through them that you need the converter? So would a good pair of headphones and a good daw do the job?

If your in search of a cheap yet powerful DAW check out and then download Reaper.
