I'm using these for toms now and just want to know if anyone who currently uses them engages the high pass filter, or do you leave it off?

I'm using the pads, BTW.

I always have it off, I figure I can always do a hi-pass later if I need to.

Bump.

I remember several users talking about this (or maybe the M179) as being great on toms. I wanna make sure I use them right.

Well, I guess I could just test them but HEY! WHAT THE HECK IS THIS FORUM FOR ANYWAY?

It's not like I'm using them on rap vocals.:D

I have an M37, which is the exact same mic as the 177 but in a slightly different housing that used to be sold on Musician's Friend. I've never used it on rack toms but I really like it on floor toms. I don't use the high pass there, obviously.

I don't own a mic that sounds better on floor toms than my M37. It's actually kind of a drag because I don't dare use it if I'm recording any other instruments in the same room as the drums, as the bleed would be a nightmare. So I rarely have a chance to actually use it on floor tom.
