Howdy,

Anybody else out there doing sound to picture stuff? If so, I would like to hear some video monitoring suggestions. Currently, I can do video monitoring on my computer monitor, but this could get difficult if the PC is tied down with processing I think. I am throwing around the idea of getting either a cheap TV or a dedicated video monitor to ceiling mount in my studio. Any suggestions on make or model?

Or can I continue using my TV capture card and a small video screen in the corner of my apps without running into issues of overworking my pc? Anybody else do this sort of video monitoring?

Okay, let me rephrase this, because I just re-read my post, and I was obviously snorting ajax when I wrote that.

I monitor video from my vcr with a usb TV/video receiver/capture device. So when I am scoring a video using SMPTE from the video for my program (whichever I am using) to sync to, I can actually see the video on my computer monitor - but I am not running the video from the HD, so am I using (or in danger of using) too much processor power on my PC? If not, what are the advantages of using an external video monitor besides possibly larger screen size?

The video running in the vcr runs seamlessly and smoothly on my computer monitor, so I am assuming that this does not rob any (or any significant) power away from my sequencer. Do I have this right?

Anybody else out there doing this? I'd like to hear from you. Also, if you use an external video monitor, I am curious about your set up.

Thanks,

Brad
