How can I tell the level of the signal when it's on its way in? I have Cubase SE3...I seem to remember on Cubasis VST (somewhat archaic!) you activated an 'in' button and it measured the volume of the input. How can I get a dB reading of my input? Thanks alot guys.

Well, I use SX3 and it's in the mixer as well...so it might be there.

Make sure you have the input section activated (you can have it hidden). All your inputs should be viewable.

Hmm I think it may be. It has a level reading somewhere above the track volume in smaller text. I seem to be getting by okay as is, but when people say ''you should track at -12dB'' or whatever, I get a little confused.

maybe the "direct monitoring"-mode i activated? Found somewhere in the preferences, and its a checkbox. When I unchecked that checkbox the input levels finally came up. I had the same problem when I started.

NL5 is correct. Your inputs are "hidden" in the mixer window. On SX2 its the upper most icon in the mixer window.
