If I get a nice 2 channel card like a lynx, will I be able to use the timeclock on that to control my Layla (8 channels)? Will there be an increase in quality from less jitter? Thanks.

From what I can see, if the Lynx card you select has a word clock output, and the Layla has a word clock input (and it appears that they are so equiped) then yes you could clock the Layla from the Lynx. I doubt you'd hear an audible improvement.

The clock from the Lynx wouldn't be that big of an improvement over the internal clock in the Layla. Not enough to make the Layla's converters sound any better.

is there another model you would recommend for this?

Personally, I clock my system with a GenX6.

lucid makes pretty good clocks... the GenX6 is one of them.

i happened upon the lucid SSG192 master studio clock generator but as of yet have not been able to try it out... itll come in handy to sync multiple digital devices together as well as to help keep audio in sync with video... the fact that it should make my aardvark q10 sound just a bit better is a side benefit i think.
