first, i know this should be in the rack forum, but its screwing up for me. says it cant find the server, and then when i try again says its a duplicate.so...

lets say i am micing my acoustic with two mics... can i run both of them through a one channel mic pre? how would this work? or lets say drums... ya know... or do you need a different channel for each mic on the same source? if you can, whats the best way to route it?

the reason i asked was because of something i read on the mercenary audio website about the ME-1NV

"The idea was to build a transformer that would have all the "size" and "thunder" that you would find in the pre-amp of an original Neve™ 1073, but without the 'haze' and 'mush' that can accumulate when you run a whole bunch of tracks through a 1073."

just wondering what it meant by running a whole bunch of tracks through a 1073... this could be the dumbest question ever... im sure it is...

Mercenary is talking about recordng many tracks through the same preamp, one at a time, building a mix, and then listening to see how the "stacking" of channels on mixdown (playback of all the recorded tracks) sounds.

They mean laying down a bunch of different tracks through the same preamp... but, not all at the same time... one track at a time.

Yes, you could.

"how would this work?"

Like crap.

good to know, wont try it. looks like i'll have to bite the bullet and save some more money... geese.

Yeah, even home recording at a hobby level can get expensive.

"this could be the dumbest question ever"

No it's not... if you didn't ask, you still wouldn't know... and that would be dumb. ;)

That whole principle holds true of full sized consoles. One of the things that people seemed to love about the old neve preamps was the luscious warm lows. However, even on a Neve console, that can become an issue. The thing is, certain tracks can benefit from NOT having that sound, just as others become magical with it.

IMHO, you will love the Great River. It will be a nice addition to the Midas:)
