Hi all,

Newb here. I just set up my motu 896mk3 hybrid audio interface for the first time. I'll simply be inputting some microphones (a vocal mic and a couple of condensers recording acoustic guitar) into the interface, and then outputting to headphones and DAW (garageband on imac). In the instruction manual for the interface, there are a number of pages about making synch connections which are confusing the hell out of me. I think I understand the basic idea, but I'm confused as to if I have to do anything manually to synch the interface and my DAW, or if that gets taken care of automatically simply by plugging the interface into the computer.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Gene

Ignore it! You don’t need to sync anything. You can set things up to all sorts of clever locking if equipment connected has the right facilities but for mics and instruments there’s no need. Some people need to lock old reel to reels or other free running devices like SMPTE or older sync systems.
