Hello, could someone point me towards some information on how to set up PZMs for stereo recordings in an ambient room. Things like; how big should the boards that I should mount the PZMs on be, what are recommended distances to start off with, tips and trix, what not to do, where to buy good value PZM etc.

Thanks

I use the crown PZM mics that they began making in the early 80s I believe. They still make them today, but I am not sure on the model number. Anyway, if you have two of them, (you are either lucky or rich), but if you do place them at about a 45 degree angle.
Get a stand that can mount two mics, either that or design something to put them on. The crown ones have about 6x4 inch plate on them, but add your own if you want to cut back on the highs and get more lows. (I recomend doing this for most uses). Place the mics where you can hear the entire mix the best. Consider it a stage and putting the mics in the best seats in the house.
I just lookedup the model number, it is PZM-30D. They list for about 370$ but I got mine for 10$ a piece!! Anyway, that is another story. They work great on grand pianos too. Or hang them for a choir. Anyway, hope I helped in some way.
