Push mix from client de jure

I will not comment much on the musicianship. It speaks for itself.

I do like the singer. Not even the best song he sang, but the only one I had available at this point because I needed to do a push mix for the lead guitarist to "learn" a solo.

Anway. Pretty much no eq, just a hair of low shelf roll off on a few things, and a midrange scoop on the kick. Just a bit of compression on the vocals and a tad of reverb on the vocal, guitar, and snare. Mostly, the snare is being heard through the overheads. This is a kick mic and stereo overheads. The snare mic is feeding the reverb "pre-fader" so the actual track is not turned up in the mix at all.

I am contemplating bring in some other musicians to work on a few of the songs this singer sings for the band. Think he is worth a time investment?

He is quite good, the "normal" one seems a little more marketable.

Not to be braggish or anything, but I'd say this guys best chance in hell is moving to Louisville and working his ass off to get my project done. Need someone bad, and theres a very respectable freelance rep interested for months. Sigh... Still listening, I think he's pretty decent, but something, I dunno, somethings missing. Maybe its what he's singing to. I dunno. I'd like to hear him on other stuff. Or maybe, my stuff.
Actually, I thought everything sounded fine really, bandwise, but I guess you heard the troublesome stuff that I dont get to hear. If you can find some people to make him who he is supposed to be, then go for it, but don't underestimate how hard this can be. Not to mention his current band badmouthing you to all your possible future clients.

recording guitar part

Just wondering if you could share how your guitar was recorded for 'wretched.' Mic placement and and EQ/compression mostly...thanks. I'm beginning a song, and have gotten one track down...acoustic guitar, and I think it's going to end up being a little too bottom heavy once the other instruments get in the mix.
 
Glad you asked. This acoustic signal path might be a bit much for your blood. Remember, there is no eq or compression on this track......

AT 4050 to a Drawmer 1960 preamp. Position is the mic is at about the 12th fret with the angle towards the 15th fret.

AKG 414 to a ART Pro preamp. Position is about 4" to the rear of the soundhole straight at the guitar.

Both mics enjoy a Monster Studio Pro 1000 wire to the preamp, and StudioLink 500 from preamp to ADAT XT 20.

All told, about a $5000 signal path.
