Punk Rock Song: Angels Last Alright

Hey guys, I'm looking for some feedback with regards to mixing and also to arrangement. I know the level is a little low on this, but I'm trying to keep it slightly down for mastering.

I can't get to your songs because they buffer for like 5 minutes and then a network error occurs. Maybe a smaller file might help. :(

The arrangement is good and interesting. I want to say the guitars are too loud and harsh, but if the harshness were removed the levels would probably be fine. I could go for louder bass and drums. The lead vocal stands out a bit much. The volume could be lowered, but it also seemed heavily EQ'd or otherwise effected so perhaps that could be toned down. The lead guitar parts get lost in the other guitars. They also sound either thin or weak or something like that. I like my guitars ballsy. . . just like my men. . . I mean. . . uh.

None of the things I mentioned are severe. I just think you need to tame the guitars and everything will work better. Hope that's helpful.
 
The levels are too low! Just kidding, you already said they would be. Anyway, to me it sounds like there's too much treble or fuzz or something on the guitars. Kind of cool, but it seems to interfere with the vocals and mix. Maybe keeping them like that and just lowering their volume in the mix would do the trick, otherwise you could EQ em some. Otherwise, good song as far as the arrangement and everything else goes!
 
i agree with steveletwin about the vocals being maybe a little too prominent, you sing really well so that's not the problem. There is a lot of singing on this track, is all :)

maybe if you could tweak the bass tone to make it stick out...

I enjoyed the mixing job on the drums very much. however the guitar was a bit thin...maybe beef up the tone a bit or double track one of the guitars. Vocals are a slight bit to high I think. But an aewsome sound, and cool song.
 
can i ask what you did to make the guitars so high pitch? another band i've heard called canterbury effect has an ep that sounds almost identical. its not a good sound whatsoever, i just want to know what steps people do to actually get that tone.

anyway the main vocals appear and are WAY too in your face. they need some reverb or something. i'm actually having a hard time listening to it because vocals like this are embarassing to both the performer and the listener. the guitars are way too trebly and have no body to them, just fuzz. the drums aren't bad but the snare seems a bit scooped until the end of the song.
 
Yeah, maybe i'm going about this wrong, but I'm trying to find a place for the lead guitar and rhythm guitar. They are both doubled. I have the rhythm dominating at like 500hz-1.5k and the lead at 4-8k and the vocals in the middle there. I suppose I should do rhythm at 400-1k and lead from 1-3 k and vocals above that perhaps?

I also can't really find a reverb I am happy with on these vocals, can anybody suggest anything for this style? The snare isn't scooped but its got a big loud compression track over it until the end, maybe i'll lower that down a bit.

The guitar sound is very fine. The problem with the vocals is merely volume, not reverb. (I recommend Waves Trueverb, btw.)

Keep in mind things will happen when mastering as well...
