Very interesting work, guys ... almost wish I was having a go at this myself!! :)

Of the ones I've listened to so far, Xstatic's has been the most accomplished (and loudest!!!) ... but there is plenty of time and I've not listened to half of you yet.

I like so of the stuff Thajeremy's just done with the vocals, different to some of the others .. but the choral synth is too loud, you can hear the abrupt transitions between notes rather than just getting the idea that Evanescence are hiding in the back of the room! :D

The kick is totally dominating the low end, need to get it in the pocket with the bass. Again with the bright snare--maybe it's just me that likes a cannon snare with a clicky kick. It's a formula dammit but it works!

The lead guitar is loud in places vs. the vocal, like right before the whisper, around 2:35.
Cheers for the reveiw. :)
I totaly agree with you on what you said. I still have ALOT of work to do on this mix to get it the way I want it. I will post again in a few days.

OK, from 2:26 you need to pick which vocal is the lead.

I gather you kinda liked that mix? :p

I'm not yet happy with the vox(es) thou.. I got them to sit okay, but somehow I don't still feel they are nearly as good as they should be... Anyone agree? Any ideas?

How about the bass? I don't have that great bass system here (no subs etc). So can anyone with more eve bass response comfirm if it is in order?

About that 2:26 - the other vocals you hear are the harmonies. Six of them all are sang like that (longer tails than the "main") - either I have to completely take them out or somehow cut/fade those tails away (I doubt the result would never be very natural/statisfying).

EDIT: I updated the link with a bit tweaked one. Got better voxes at least IMO. Check it out. As always comments are welcomed :)

Bah, I dinny have my headphones at the moment so canny really mix unless I use my really shitty trebly no bass PC speakers.
Suppose it could work ok although I couldnt judge the lo end at all.

Heheh... Well I tend to work only like 1 hour or something at a time, but I seem to do that alot. This song is just so inspiring to mix - I seem to come up with new ideas all the time.. Sorry guys, try to bear with me...

I updated the link with a new version again... lol.. I gues it might be a good idea not to post every version :o :o

I can't listen to this shit now, as I am on dialup for a few days!!!! Pisses me off cuz I need to hear this, and learn.......end of rant. Sorry guys, but I wanna hear what everyone is coming up with. When I left, several very solid mixes. Oh, just helping with the bump..... :D

giving it another shot. I adjusted some levels according to the comments I got...the difference Im hearing is hardly noticable.

Critique?
I have already made some changes (the kick was bothering me), but I want to know what some other people think.

Thanks

The first thing Im hearing (or not hearing) is the bass....imo you need to bring it out more and pull the guitars back a bit. Toms sound good but snare sounds too thin.

Anyone else stuck w/32 track limitations? (ala PT LE users)
Is everybody using all the tracks? The keyboard3 is just not working for me, It just ruins the song for me.

32 tracks will probably be enough. It will just be a lot of trouble for you to pick and choose which tracks you want to use. there are 5 guitar tracks, 6 bass tracks, 17 DRUM TRACKS!!! once you know which ones you want to use, you should be fine with 32.

Even though I'm judging, I did a mix just for shits and grins. The vocals need a lot of work still to keep the harmonies from fighting each other in a couple spots, and it seems like I picked a different track to be my "lead" vocal than a lot of you :o. Anyway, here it is....

So now you're probably wondering.... why is this no talent assclown judging again? :D
