Hey, umm my first attempt at downloading this thing died after 95,681,180 bytes. As far as Firefox is concerned it's reached the end of the file and it says that the download is complete.

Is there any chance of getting the big zip broken down into individual tracks? That would be handy...

I can't do that, but maybe you could try ftp? Do you have an FTP client?

Somehow at times this mix seemed empty. Not sure how else to calculate that into adviseable words, sorry.
I'm afraid I must agree with you, now that I've had my "morning after" listen. For some reason I couldn't get this one to "gel". I may let it rest for a week or so and take another crack at it. After listening to your reference mix, I'm convinced that the song can sound much, much better. Thanks again!

Finster,

I downloaded the tracks and took a quick listened while I dialed in a rough balance. I'm curious about the vocal recording chain. On all 3 tracks there is this sort of ringing/resonance that I find distracting. Do you hear that? I am wondering what is causing it. Mic? EQ? Compressor?

Forgot to ask in my previous post, did you flip the phase on the bottom snare mic pre when recording it?

I thought the Vocals were weird too.

Downloading..... Hope I don't have the same download problems I had with the last public mix thing.... We'll see tomorrow morning I guess.

Best of luck to you Michael. :D

Hey Chris - I haven't done the PMC for a while and decided to download your mix to see how it sounded. Just wanted to let you know this is a great song. My wife wanted me to let you know that she loves it too.

Looks like I'll have some mixing to do! :)

Nice, got an old schooler in the bunch. You been doing these from the start Vestast.
Thanks for entering bro!

Oh yeah, at last PMC 11! I'v been waiting for this the last 2 weeks :D

Downed the files and I must say some veerry nice engineering here (go Chris go!). Although I had to do some minor tweaks (eg I believe one kick hit was clipping, had to replace it). And I must say I'm having quite problems with that "wet" lead gtr track.. :(

Anyway it is pleasure to mix tracks like these, you can actually mix and not to "fix" ;)

So to work... after few hours I came up with this. This is by no means my final one. Alot to do still, some volume unbalances and I'm not quite statisfied with the toms, lead vox, back vox and lead gtr. Have to tweak the verbs more. Anything else you find bothering? Feel free to comment, I'm more than happy to get some creative feedback

The song is here: PCM 11 (beta)

Well hmmm....With the girls i had them in the same room so maybe youre hearing the bleed between the two mics?
As for the male vocal i never noticed anything.
Strange.

Thanks for entering BTW!
You won PMC#2 correct?

Sorry man...not sure what to say.

Suppose I should wait till I hear them on my monitors, my demo mix was only done though wornout headphones, but for the most part yeah good recording ;)

Yeah that was one of my personal judging brownie points.
If you fix it that is.
The lead gtr...if you take and duplicate the acoutic guitar track and nudge the dup forward anywhere from 10 to 20 ms. then pan them out youll have room in the middle for the lead.
Which btw will require some automation.

Cool ill take a listen.

Nice job, Kainz! Is that an autopanner on the lead guitar, or did you do the panning by hand? (Or am I just imagining it...) The overall balance between the instruments is astoundingly smooth to my ears.
