Which should I buy? I want to record everything in between and including "Pantera" to "Pink Floyd" to classical guitar. However, one of the nice things about the PSA-1 is that you can push a bass through it.

Thoughts?

That's a rough call...

If you need the FX, the POD is the easy choice.

If you're planning on using it direct, the POD has the edge for sure.

If you're planning on using it through a power amp and cabinet, I think the PSA-1 actually sounds much better.

Just curious~ Is it true that they are doing away with the PSA-1?

I hope not... It's on my Xmas wishlist for 2010.

:D Good News :
I just spoke with a rep at Music123. They called Tech21 directly and found out that the PSA-1 is in fact NOT discontinued, but on hold. They ran out of a particular component and have to wait.

:( Bad News :
The PSA-1 won't be available for shipment until sometime in August.

Recording guitars direct is almost always a worst case scenario, but if you must use the PSA-1. The PSA one will be a so so guitar sound, but the Pod will actually screw up your record.

I use a PSA-1 everyday, but not for guitars. Its in my rack for mixing. I run basses and drums through it to give them extra grit.

I Win...i Win...i Win!!!!

:D YEAH! I just won the auction on eBay for a used PSA-1. I can't wait to learn every aspect of that gear once I receive it. :p

I spoke with Lloyd and John at Tech21, and August is too far away for me to wait for a new one...oh well. :o

If you own a power amp (I hope a TUBE power amp) PSA-1 will blow you ears!!!

It is exactly the "pantera" sound..

I'll be running it thru my guitar amp...and no, it's not tube. :( It will also be used for double tracking my guitar via DI and mic.

I love the sansamp classic rackmount which is the PSA without settings. It has a wonderfully analog and natural distortion. Cleans are ok and there are no other effects... but for distortion, it is in your face and beautiful.

I thought I had a pretty good handle on the various Sansamp models, but I've never even heard of that. Is that some kind of prototype or something?
