Protools and external storage problems...

I use PT m-powered 7.3....the problem is, everytime I plug in an external USB HD or flash drive, PT stores a Digidatabase folder on the device...when I unplug the device, I get an error in PT and have to restart it. This only happens if PT is actually open though....

are there any settings that I can change to keep this from happening???

Unfortunately not, although there has been a lot of discussion of the issue at DUC there is not (as of yet) a setup option to disable the automatic creation of the digidatabase folder. And yes, it can be annoying.
 
When PT is open, you have to unmount any drives from within PT itself. Go to your "workspace" window, select the drive, click on the little briefcase in the top left (or right for PT8!) corner and choose "unmount".
 
so this will need to be done each time huh??? that sucks...
 
I tried doing this yesterday....I got a fatal error...and died...I mean.....PT shut down....
