Ok, Rami contributed REAL drums to this part of the project so I thought I'd post it again for some feedback. I added some strings in the solo part and beefed up the guitars just a tad as well as bringing up the solo just a tad. Please let me know what you think. I'm actually concerned the drums aren't loud enough.

Thanks!

I think a little more tweeking with subs in the kick drum, and some more work on the overall balance (right now it sounds like the snare is panned to the right?), and you've got it!

Enjoyed it 7.

The gtrs and drumset sound good.

Now just get DavidK to do the strings and it's perfect.

Personally, I'd like the drums more in your face...this tune seems like it could use some aggression. It's got emotion, so use it....fill some space up. I don't really hear the kick, so thicken the drums up some, and then blend the rest to suit....I think you have plenty of space.

So far, great direction....just some tweaking now....

Thanks to all 3 of you! I guess I had good reason to be concerned about the drums. I'll do some more work on them tomorrow and try to implement these suggestions.

Thanks again!

Remix up

Ok, I remixed this using the previous suggestions and the only thing I REALLY don't like is the bass guitar but I've always had a problem getting the clarity that I want out of the bass. I'm also wondering if the backing string tracks (the 'aaahhh' part) is too loud in the solo part. Please let me know what you think!!!!!

Thanks!

New mix: I'm listening more carefully to the drumset this time and I like the kick level better in the new mix. The snare sounds too prominent to me, but just by a bit, in both mixes.

The thing I like the most is the guitar solo. Really good intonation in the left hand control, and the delay is very effective.

I think you got it right!:)

I wish you had time to help me out on something. PM me if you can spare a few minutes. I have something that you could definitely help me out on...

Thanks XLR, TMatt142 and Rokket! I'm really liking this mix. It seems to be coming together. I'm still concerned about the backing behind the solo, though. I think it might be just a tad loud. When the other strings come back in after the solo, they seem to be quieter. So it's either the strings aren't loud enough or the backing behind the solo is too loud. Or maybe it's just me. ;)

Rokket, PM already sent.

PM received!

I don't think the levels of the strings is off at all. They sit just right behind the solo. The quieter section after that adds to the tension that is already there, making it a much more emotionally powerful piece. It's like punctuation in a well written story.

That's not blowing too much smoke up yer ass is it?:D

Thanks, Rokket! I've listened to it about a dozen times this morning and I think everything is fine with the mix... EXCEPT the bass guitar. I'm just not happy with the way it sounds, or DOESN'T sound. It sounds great in the solo but everywhere else it seems buried and not very distinct.

Back to the mixing board! ;)
