Programs to convert wav. to mp3

The program I use to record unfortunately use wav. as it's output format, I need a solid, free program to convert these wav. files to mp3 format
 
A lot of software can importe the LAME mp3 dll, so they can't do mp3s out of the box, they can be modified to do so.
Reaper and Audacity can.
 
I use Xilisoft audio converter. It has loads of conversion options available and it's totally free. The only niggle is that you can only encode 3 files per session... but you only have to close it then open it again to unlock 3 more :rolleyes:
 
You can use iTunes and also if you are on a mac you can get Switch.
 
Hi, yeah, I'm just at the stage of wanting to convert the songs on my new album from WAV to MP3, so I'd be really greatful if someone could post up a link to a free converter.
 
I searched in google for a solution of the same problem and found this thread. Thank you guys for the suggestions, you really helped me! I'd like to share what I've found too in case someone else would be interested. Audio Converter Studio may come in handy for those who have faced the problem of converting for the first time. Everything is intuitive and clear in this program and it might help you as well.

Just go to Itunes, ad song from file, convert to MP3 then erase .wav. I tunes has simple equalizer to to help with the final product
