Hey

I´ve been trying to record acoustic guitar and I am going for really closed micing but its not going very well.

I for one problably have a lousy soundcard but still I i'd like to know if I could get a slightly better sound if at all possible before I buy a new expensive card.

Well the thing is I always override eather the mixer or cubase. If It sounds ok it just seems so far a way and low. I connect the mixer to the computer like this:
1/8 jack to 1/4 jack cord -> 1/4 jack that divides into two 1/4 jacks -> rca to that and to the mixer.

I´m guessing this affects in some way but to what extent? And also is there some volume leveling I´m not aware of in the program

In hopes of some replys,
The absoloute noob :)

It sounds like you could use some compression to help you out. That would make your loud parts not so loud, so you wouldn't be peaking out the mixer, and it would bring your quiet parts up. Basically it will give you a more consistant sound, period.
