problem with the aw16g

I have tracks recorded and mixeddown to the stero track.
To date I have four songs completed. Well as good as I can play.
The problem is when I try to put them on a CD or save as wave files only one song will show up in the list. I have went through the instructions several times and have concluded I'm not smart enought to figure it out. Any suggestions are welcome.

Yo Blade; I have had my 16g for a couple of weeks now and I've had extreme difficulties understanding the manual, but there are several people in this forum that can help you. Jeffree has burned CD's already so he is probably the best qualified to date. If he doesn't respond to your query as I'm certain that he will, you might want to call Yamaha at (714) 522-9011 Ext. 9950 and ask for Ed Blackmore. He'll walk you through the process. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten as far as you have, so I'm of no help to you right now. Good luck and I hope your tracks turn out great. MH

Yo Blade/Mullethead:

I going to assume that the play list in the AW16 functions about the same as my play list on my 2816.

So, try this:

When you do a stereo track as you said you have done, DID YOU SAVE THE SONG? If you don't save it, it isn't going to be on your play list.

If you saved the song, get set up to do a CDRW burn and when your "stereo track" play list pops up, go there and highlight the song title or frame that pops up; then, move the jog wheel and, Voila, all of your saved titles should be there.

The manual for the AW16 must be as badly organized as my 2816 manual; however, because of experience with several other multi trackers, I finally began to find my way around my box.

So, when you finish recording your tracks, set up your stereo track and when you record it and are happy with it, SAVE THE SONG. Each song can only have ONE stereo track; so, if you don't like the cut of the stereo track, you can quickly erase it and do it over.

Yeah, the Green Hornet is right. That's exactly the same as the AW16G. As long as you save it after creating the stereo track, just hit New, then use the jog wheel to change the song in the list. This was the part that took me the longest to figure out. I just kept adding the same song to the tracklist, so I figured I wasn't recording the stereo track right, but all I had to do was use the wheel to change the song in the list itself.

Hey guys,
When Green Hornet said that each song only has one stereo track, does that mean that you can only perform this function once? Let's say, for instance, that I burned a few songs on CD, but then realized that the kick drum on the first song wasn't nearly thumping enough (after I listened to it on a variety of stereos). Can I go back and adjust the kick drum, and then make a new stereo track (recording over the previous one)? Once you save the song, is that the only stereo track that song will ever have? I seriously hope that isn't the case. I hope I'm making sense here.....

Blade, Dinsdale's right about burning one song--click on NEW in the CD-burning screen. But I haven't tried burning more than one song at a time, so I'll try this tonight and see if I can help you figure it out. ( I know what you mean about just one song showing up on the screen--when you click on NEW).

Fab, you can burn alternate STEREO tracks viz zny of the following:

* hit REDO and record again

* just record it again, over the previous stereo track

* go to TRACK and record a virtual take (you have 8) if you want to compare different mixes

I'm pretty much resaying what jeffree said, but don't worry, you can re-record the stereo track as many times as you want; and for each song you can record 8 different stereo takes if you use the virtual tracks on the stereo track itself.

I'll try to make it a little more clear with the cd-burning question just in case...when adding a new song, just click the "New" button once for every song that you have to burn. This will look like it's adding the same song over and over, but just scroll through the playlist now and use the jogwheel to change each song. It's really cool once you figure this weird stuff out.

room? I'm surprised that other folks (e.g., Korg/Tascam/Fostex users) have been so darned polite about it. Lucky us.

Yeah no kidding ...but, hey...I'm actually finishing up my server tonight!!! Hooray! Finally! I may have it up for "beta testing" tomorrow. It will be pretty slow if I do have it up tomorrow because I'll just be testing it off of my cable connection at home. Once everything is okay, the network admin I work with will be hooking it up to a proper connection .

I just took a trip over to Dinsdale's site, registered, and soon found myself smiling at the quickly growing number of initial posts... all focused on helping each other buy and use the 16G.
I couldn't be happier! One more thanks, Dinsdale, for your excellent efforts--you've created what will soon be a world-class site, and I'm certain that we'll all learn and share a lot in the coming months and years.

Only one sad note--I'm suspect that I won't be hitting this homerecording.com site much in the future. 16G recording questions of almost any sort will probably find better responses via the dedicated 16G site. But I'm not complaining.

Now, I need to head back to the new site...
