It seems that no matter what program i use to record i get this problem.

I'm recording live with two mics placed in a room, going straight into my audio interface.

All over the recording (but most heavily at the start) it just skips from outta nowhere. Are there any reasons/fixes for this?

Please excuse the sloppy recording, i never expected to be showing people this, its just something we put down for reference sake for future jams. Although im actually pretty happy for it to sound like this (bar the skipping) considering its just two mics between a bass, guitar and drums with no EQing or anything.

Maybe the bit rate is too high for the comp to handle.

Ps sloppy drumming

A diagnosis is easier if you can supply more info: what interface are you using, and what are your computer specifications. In the meantime, try disabling anything on the computer that could be running in background and hogging its CPU.

Check your levels............or Volume on the mic. Make sure they arent clipping. This probably isn't your problem, maybe though.

If you are recording two mics simeoultaneously at a bit rate of 44.1k and your computer has less or equal to 1 gig of ram you might run into some trouble.

If you are running VST's...........or Effects in your software program.....such as chorus or reverb or equalization.............just using these as an example...........This will slow your computer down CONSIDERABLY.

Those VST's use up ALOT of your computers horsepower.........

If you have one of the above problems........

1 upgrade your RAM

2 use as little VST's as humanly possible...........................

3 Get a new Desktop

The interface is an Edirol UA-25EX USB. CPU - AMD Turion X2 1.6GHz with 2GB of ram.

I'm not running any VST's or effects in the software program. I have 2GB of ram so i thought 2 mics ar 44.1k shouldnt be a problem. Levels seem to be fine, no clipping.

wow..........well your computer def has the horsepower to do what you need to do. So what i suggested before won't be your problem........I guess the only thing i can think of is that maybe your computer is running other programs while you are recording...........if you add your computer running other programs plus recording two mics at the same time that MIGHT be causing your problem.......if not............I have no idea. sorry man best of luck to ya.

Anyone else here with the know how that could help him out.
