Earlier in the year i picked up a new Hafler 1600 power amp and seemed ok out of the box. recently i've noticed that one channel's signal to the monitors is weak, has little bass and needs to be turned up to come close to balancing the sound. has anyone else had a problem like this? solutions? ideas? i've already tried switching speakers, cables and it's always on the same side.

I've noticed the exact same problem with my Hafler TA1600, it's like one side is lacking bass and is quieter. What side is the weaker side on yours?

Sorry I don't have a solution, just replying to say your not alone.

hafler

hi.. thanks for responding. it's the left side on my unit... when i first noticed it i tore everything apart and isolated it to the hafler. it seemed to be ok for the first months before i noticed any change. is that the same situation for you?

I haven't been doing alot of mixing lately, but I sat down yesterday and noticed it, so I don't know when it started. I'm going to look into it this weekend and see what I can see.

So I narrowed it down to the left channel is the less "bassy" and quiter channel. It is definitly the amp, i've patched and repached everything, isolated just the amp and the card. The problem follows the chanel no matter what I do. I found this link where Slackmaster had the same problem:

He ended up buyinbg a new one, which sucks 'cause I spent ALOT of money in Canada for it. Does anyone want to buy me a new one in the States and ship it to me? :)

Sounds like a common problem, I'm going to keep searching and see what I can find.

thanks for the link... it does sounds like it's a manufacturing problem. really sucks that they would let bad units out and dump them on comsumers. good way to get some bad word of mouth, if they care. are you going to open yours up and see what you can find? keep me posted...

I had the same problem. Then just like that it went away. Must be something with that model...

I'm having the same problem with the #1 channel on my TA1600. Sonufabitch.

how long did you have your unit before you noticed the problem, and how long did it last? kind of curious about this all...
