I used to play about with midi about 15 years ago and I have decided to have another play about with it. I think i've got all the bits I need, Computer, keyboard, midi cable, software (sonar7), but I'ts fried my brain.
I have sonar working ok, when I connect my usb-midi cable I can only play 1 note, then silence for about 5 seconds, then I can play another note. It sort of defeats playing music. I suspect I'm doing somthing very stupid.
my set up is this (its all very cheap, as I'm scared of buying somthing I dont need)
ADM Athlon 64 2x duel core 2.1ghz
3gb ram
Windows Vista home primium
Realtek Soundcard (came with the computer, from PC world)
I have Sonar 7
my keyboard at the moment is a Yamaha YPT-210
And the usb - midi cable i bought is unbranded, this one here
Am I going to get any joy with this set up, or is it never going to happen.
