ok here we go...

Anybody whos familiar with old Roland GR-1? It is a guitar synth. I have a soundblaster audigy with a built-in virtual MIDI controller. This MIDI controller uses its own MIDI sound source like the GM bank. But I want my Roland GR-1 to be my primary sound source for the MIDI controller. How do i connect the MIDI connectors to the computer? And how do i set the options/ parameter of both the soundcard and my Roland to make it work? IM not going to use the default GM bank from the soundcard. my point is i wanna play sounds from the roland to the virtual MIDI controller?
regards

I am not familiar with the roland GR-1, considering it as a synth, let me just tell you the general concept. First you are sending a midi signal from your controller to your computer (so connect a midi cable from your synth midi out to your computer midi in) Then you can record the midi in the computer or directly trigger any sound your need (so now connect a midi cable from computer midi out to your syth midi in) Now you are triggering the roland synth sounds from the computer. Now connect an audio cable from the audio out of your synth to the recorder/soundcard.
And by the way, use the joystick port for midi in and out using this adapter.
