Hi
I've recently set up a legit copy of Cubase 5 in a local secondary school in their main recording suite.
I have used cubase before and feel comfortable with most things on the interface.
However, about 2 weeks after installation, (I fear one of the students might of pressed a button or changed a setting) suddenly audio events can't be layered on any given channel.
I'll try and approximately describe what happens...
When an audio event is dragged on top (even just so it slightly overlaps) another existing audio event it priorities the one I've moved but deletes anything that it overlaps. I can retrieve the the data of the effected event by dragging the corner tags and restoring the data but any events that have been completed overlapped would have to be retrieved from the pool, which is easily done and wastes much time in lessons.
It doesn't display the overlapped audio as a darker shade of grey now like I'm used to seeing.
This has the exact same symptom when I'm using the console to record - ie, instead of stacking the events (or in lane view, displaying multiple 'rows' of events) it simple overrides with the same effect. The same when doing a 'loop' record; it appears like it's saving the multiple takes, but when you press stop it only saves the last take!
I hope it is just a case of a button I've missed and not something glitchy, it just doesn't look like a glitch, if you know what I mean.
Thanks for any help, I'd appreciate it..
David.
